An Environment For Learning
You will have a rich and interactive experience with us to enjoy your journey learning EFT in an experential way. We show our in-session work, lead practice exercises and help you get involved with the learning experience.

Our externships follow the “C-D-E” format: Conceptualization (didactic), Demonstration (video/leader lead role plays), Experience (small group exercise). This format takes you step-by-step into contact with the material so you are learning at a variety of levels.

Our externships are officially offered in conjunction with Dr. Susan Johnson and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Ottawa, Canada. This externship fulfills the full externship requirement for certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

The externship includes:

  • Observations of live sessions (if at all possible)
  • Observations of EFT taped sessions
  • Presentations of theory and clinical techniques
  • Skill training exercises
  • *CEs available for Psychologists, LMFTs, LMHCs, LPCs, and LCSWs.

Externship participants are required to have the training and educational qualifications to legally practice as a professional mental health practitioner or be in formal training to be a professional mental health practitioner. Participants must be familiar with and abide by professional and legal confidentiality requirements regarding all client information shared in the training.

Certification in EFT is offered by ICEEFT based on completion of all requirements and demonstrated competence in the model.  Completion of training does not guarantee competence or certification.

Enrollment in this training constitutes an agreement to hold harmless The San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Training and Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy (TRI-EFT), and all presenters and trainers from any and all claims, actions, and judgements, including all costs of defense and attorney’s fees incurred in defending against the same.

Course Content

Four or five 2-day workshops will provide an in depth study of each of the EFT steps. Each day will contain instruction and group supervision of EFT work according to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Excellence in EFT (in Ottawa). Each weekend provides twelve hours of training.

There will be opportunity for participants to get feedback on videos of their own work with clients. Bringing your own video to view is necessary to meet the Advanced Externship requirement of certification.

Generally speaking, if you need to cancel your attendance at a training event, you will receive your full payment back, minus 5%.

If you need to cancel within 60 days of paying through PayPal, we will refund through PayPal and the process is fairly quick.

If you paid via PayPal but cancel more than 60 days after the payment was made, the refund process will take a little longer and we’ll send you a check.

If you paid via credit card or check, your refund will be returned to you via check.

If you cancel within a few days of the event, or can’t attend at the last minute, we prefer to give you credit towards another training rather than refund your money.
