This is an official Externship, endorsed by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and brought to you by TRI EFT Alliant and Alliant International University. This event is also Co-sponsored by the University of Las Vegas.
Attending this externship is the first step to gaining mastery as an experiential couple therapist and being listed at the EFT website, where couples go to find trained couple therapists. Attending this externship is also a step towards becoming a certified EFT therapist. For further details about the certification process please refer to Susan Johnson’s International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT).
In this Externship, you will learn to:
• see marital distress from an attachment perspective
• help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress
• shape key new interaction and bonding events and,
• overcome therapeutic impasses.
You will also see live consultation sessions with a couple, a profound learning experience.

Sue Johnson is Director of the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Distinguished Research Professor at Alliant University in San Diego, California as well as Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. She has received numerous honors for her work, including the Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Couple and Family Therapy Award from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Research in Family Therapy Award from the American Family Therapy Academy. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. Dr Johnson’s best known professional books include, The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy: Creating Connection (2004), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy with Trauma Survivors (2002), and Becoming an Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist: The Workbook (2005). She also has a popular press book, Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. She trains counselors in EFT worldwide and consults to Veterans Affairs, the U.S. and Canadian military and New York City Fire Department.

■ Day 2: Demonstration Session, EFT Interventions and Stage 1
■ Day 3: Demonstration Session and Stage 2 – the two key Change Events
■ Day 4: Becoming an EFT Therapist, Stage 3 and Attachment Injuries

We provide a limited number of seats for discounts on students, interns, and groups. We also provide payment plans to help you spread out your investment in this training across time.
If you are registered as a student or intern you will need to verify your status at the event to gain your discounted entrance. Students must be full time and bring an official course schedule to the externship registration table for verification. Interns you will need to bring your proof of intern status and your intern number.
Students will receive a certificate of completion of the course rather than a CEU certificate.
