Couples Therapy Does Work!

When You Know The New Science of Love

Knowing the new Science of Love will help you be successful in couples and relationships. It will even help you improve your own compassion for others and strengthen relationships in your own life. Imagine improving your therapy skill, having more success in treating couples, earning CEU’s AND getting happier in your own life all at the same time. We know from recent research (Levenson and Sandberg, 2010) attending an EFT Externship can do just that.

EFT is the Leading Model of Couple Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) has the most empirical support of effectiveness in the history of therapy with couples.  EFT meets  “the gold standard” criteria by the APA for couple therapy. Is it also highly effective with individuals and families. It is successful in treating relational issues as well as anxiety, depression and trauma.

The science of love and attachment will not only revolutionize your work with couples; it will change your work with individuals and families. This is an official Externship, endorsed by the Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).

By attending this externship you are eligible to be listed on the ICEEFT website where couples go to find EFT trained therapists. It is also the first step toward becoming a certified EFT therapist. For further details about the certification process and about EFT go to iceeft.com, the website for Dr. Sue Johnson’s International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT).

In this Externship, you will learn to:

■ conceptualize relational distress and repair based on theories of attachment and emotion.
■ develop skills to help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress and disconnection
■ obtain a clear understanding of the basic experiential and systemic concepts of an “Emotionally Focused” approach to couple therapy,
■ help partners shape new interactional patterns and have bonding events and,
■ overcome therapeutic impasses

You will also see EFT in action during live consultation sessions with real couples so you can get a felt sense of how the model works with a couple who is in treatment.
